II. MEMBERS

Classes of Membership and Rights

2.01 The Association will have two classes of membership, “general members” and “honorary members”. The membership, voting, and other rights, interests and privileges of each general member shall be equal. Honorary members will not have any voting rights in the Association, will not be eligible to hold office in the Association, will not be obligated to pay dues to the Association, and will not be subject to assessment by the Association.

Qualifications

2.02 General or Honorary Membership in the Association shall be by invitation from the Association or sponsorship by an existing member in good standing, followed by the recommendation of the membership committee and a vote of the membership at a regular membership meeting. General members are encouraged to attend and participate in all general meetings and other activities of the Association. In order to become and remain a general member of the Association an individual shall:

(1) Complete the initial two-day "Collaborative Divorce" training program presented by Collaborative Training Conferences, or an equivalent program approved by a vote of the membership at a regular membership meeting.

(2) Attend and participate in at least 50% of the continuing education programs presented or sanctioned by the Association every year.

(3) Attend and participate in at least 50% of the general meetings of the Association every year.

(4) Join and maintain a membership in the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.

(5) Maintain malpractice or errors and omissions insurance, with coverage terms and amounts to be specified from time to time by the Association.

(6) Meet the following minimum standards (as set from time to time by the members of each discipline):

(a) Mental Health Professionals - be licensed, and have 5 years experience in his or her field since becoming licensed, or equivalent experience (as determined by the other mental health members of the Association).

(b) Attorneys - be licensed to practice in California, and have at least 5 years experience since becoming licensed during which time his or her primary focus has been family law, or equivalent experience (as determined by the other attorney members of the Association.)

(c) Financial Advisors - be certified either as a divorce planner, a financial planner or a public accountant, and have at least 5 years experience in his or her field since becoming certified, or equivalent experience (as determined by the other financial advisor members of the Association).
